PARISH DEVELOPMENT AND THE BISHOP’S PLAN FOR THE DIOCESE
In the bishop’s plan for the diocese, ‘The Word who is Life’ it is clear that parishes will increasingly need to find new ways to provide internal leadership and pastoral care. By 2030 clergy will be supporting a number of communities hence parishes like ours may very well have to share a priest with several others. To prepare for this and to strengthen our parish identity and mission I have asked our Parish Secretary to move to a new role, that of Pastoral Assistant. The role will involve taking a lead at my direction for overall sacramental preparation coordination, pastoral outreach and developing the social life of the parish. This of course leaves a gap in the office. The Parish Finance Committee and I feel the time is right to make this a part-time employed post with specified working hours and a full Job Description.
The parish is thus actively looking for someone to take on this important role at the heart of our parish life. The following advertisement is now appearing in all deanery parishes and beyond with a closing date of 31 January 2019 with interviews by arrangement in the first half of February.

Come and join us for a coffee and a chat after the 9.15am Mass on Tuesdays. Around 9.45 am, parishioners come to the hall for an informal get-together. It’s very easy-going and newcomers are made to feel very welcome. We would love to see you there.
