Founded by Lorna Murray over five years ago, the group got off to an amazing start.  We had many people drop in to see what watercolour painting could do for them.   Lorna, a parishioner and professional artist, freely gave her time to teach the basics of watercolour.   Members contribute a small amount each week to the APF.  To date we have raised over £3,000. Some of Lorna’s pupils have gone on to exhibit their work and sell their paintings. This represents a huge achievement and a credit to Lorna’s tutoring skills. The group meet on a Saturday afternoon, (oringinally in the Church Hall) now at the home of our founder.
Our latest venture is to paint and design greetings cards.  Under the name of “Premier” we have a selection of 25 titles, which are sold locally.  A small. selection of our range is shown below.

The Union of Catholic Mothers is an organisation open to all women in the Parish. This includes those who are not mothers, those who are not married and non-Catholic wives. Everyone is welcome - we meet on the first Wednesday of each month (except August) in the Church Hall at 7.30pm

What happens at our meetings?

Through the year we have a varied programme of activities.  We organise speakers on topics of interest to members.  We also have social gatherings, Handicraft evenings, and an evening out to a restaurant for a meal. We join other Diocesan Foundations on an annual pilgrimage to West Grinstead in May and take part in the Daily Mass Scheme in which a Mass is said for the intentions of the UCM by a different Foundation each day throughout the country.

Take a look at our latest calendar of events

Information about the national UCM can be found here.
The following is a picture of our founder Margaret Clitherow and you can find out more about her life here.
